Gong Xi Fa Cai!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbIEeBM4pzM

Today is the first day of Chinese New Year, which is based on the Chinese lunar calendar and is celebrated for 15 days. This is the most important of the Chinese holidays. The traditions include giving 2 mandarin oranges, giving red envelopes containing $2 to children, decorating pussy willows, and decorating and dressing in the color red. To celebrate, my neighbor, Vicki Rooney (also a Cat wife from Peoria) arranged for a lion dance in her driveway last night. Here is a video clip of the dancers. It was very lively, festive and fun!

Happy New Year!
