The Last Village in Singapore

This is an excellent video clip from the New York Times that will give you a great feel for the culture here as well as a lot of good footage of the city itself. It also highlights one of my primary frustrations with Singapore: the government seems to place very little value on preserving its cultural heritage or historical buildings and keeping what little land there is undeveloped. You see very little in Singapore that is more than 20-30 years old and the vast majority of its citizens live in the very large concrete government apartment buildings (HDBs) referred to in the clip.
